The leading validation tools on education recognition not always apply for the standards on lifelong learning on adults with low skills. The CLAN project proposes a new approach to the recognition of these learning processes according to the European Competencies, Competencies, Qualifications and Occupations (ESCO) and the reference framework for the recognition and transfer of credits (ETCS). This tool provides us with the ability to CAPITALIZE the target group informal experiences, create a professional FOLDER, build a PERSONALIZED LEARNING plan and adjusted to their own needs and expand the POSSIBILITIES of access to the labor market.

This technology-based tool is a key innovation in this project, it provides us with the ability to assess transversal competences, connect the user to Europass Portfolios and employability portals. This dynamic means placing the person at the very centre of the process of recognizing professional competencies and opening new paths to accreditation and formal learning opportunities.

CLAN proposes a set of transversal competences, aligned with the ESCO framework (multilingual classification system for European skills, competences, qualifications and occupations). This connection facilitates:

  • Know the functioning of the labour market.
  • Help to build an integrated labour market across Europe.
  • Closer the communication gap between the world of work and the world of education and training.

CLAN project will implement a credit transferability system (ECTS), to boost the recognition of learning outcomes (captured with our evaluation tool) throughout the European territory.

The value of CLAN is to explore and capitalize on the learning that adults have acquired lifelong (Especially, through non-formal and informal ways of learning).

This evaluation process aims to bring over adults to new learning opportunities, to improve their level of qualification and increase their employability possibilities.

The CLAN project presents a new methodological approach that will change the practices carried out by the organizations that take part on the project, which will be provided with tools specifically designed for professional educators in order to differ from the old-fashioned model of education, setting the individual person´s interests and motivations as the main target upon which the whole process will take place.

The major difference with other proposals is that the core of our procedure lays on the apprentice experience as an asset for further learning and a guide for the media, by which educational achievement can be evidenced and valued.

During the course of the project, the main outputs will be:

- A technological and digital framework that serve to develop new software for mobile digital devices and associated approval and accreditation processes that allow people to capture and structure their non-formal and informal learning in a comfortable and simple way.

- Training of educators & a testing phase of the technological tool, which allows to test and train educators in using this tool, thus improving their professional skills and promoting their continuous learning.
